Current ongoing reforestation and restoration projects

at Silvertip Tree Farm:

Annual Christmas tree harvest.

Primary purpose: To restore and maintain natural forest state and promote timber growth.

Secondary purpose: Provide a rare species of Christmas trees to private and commercial entities for their Christmas celebration.

Tree Planting

Primary purpose: To reforest previously logged areas to promote forest growth and reduce green house gases.

Secondary purpose: To maximize and maintain future yield of Christmas trees for harvesting.

Whitethorn (Ceanothus cordulatus) Brush Removal

Primary purpose: Promote seedling growth which is hindered by the dense shrub canopy.

Secondary Purpose: Overgrown stands of whitethorn pose a fire danger to timber, Christmas trees and wildlife.

Timber Stand Thinning

 

Primary purpose: Promote timber growth by removing trees allowing others to flourish.

Seconday purpose: Reduce disease and fire danger caused by close proximity of trees.

Tertiary purpose: Provide wood products from poles to firewood therefore reducing waste.
